What does "Ma Lumière" mean?

Updated: Aug 2, 2020

Deciding on a name for a brand has got to be one of the most important decisions to take when starting a new business. It has got to be original, have a meaning and be relevant to your products. So why Ma Lumière?

It had to be French

As a French person living in Manchester since August 2010, I have always been referred as "the French guy". It's one of the things that people remember me by.

I knew that I wanted a French name for my brand because I wanted to stand out. I also knew that I wanted it to make sense: Practically speaking, a burning candle produces light. Theoretically speaking, light is the source of goodness and hope. So I chose Ma Lumière, which translates to My Light.

The light that I needed

Ma Lumière came into my life at a time when I needed it. I didn't know what I wanted to do and this project gave me a purpose back, a goal to work towards to. I have always been entrepreneurial and I thought this was the time for me to give self-employment a go. From the moment I started, this business has become My Light that I have been following ever since.

So there you go, the explanation behind Ma Lumière: Simple, yet effective. I love my little business and I love what it stands for.
